Great New Ideas for Outdoor Party Lights

Tired of the usual tiki torches and string lights that make up most of the offerings as far as outdoor party lights go?  There's good news.  A number of new ideas for party and deck lighting are coming on the market, and they could make your next party a real hit.  Remember, the food's important, but the mood comes second!

Consider trying outdoor hanging lights.  There are the ubiquitous Chinese paper lanterns, of course, but there are also many other options.  Consider hanging brass and glass candle lanterns, or ones made from brightly colored glass.  Hanging stained glass lights are also beautiful, and add a wonderful atmosphere to every party.

A great new development is hat of solar globe lights.  They come in brilliant colors and can be set along paths or decks and even floated in the pool.  In addition to looking great, these lights draw power from the sun, meaning that you don't have to worry about how to conceal cords and maintain safety around electrical wires.  This gives you a lot more room for creativity in placing your outdoor party lights.  Remember, however, that solar lights need to be exposed to sunlight for a long period before their batteries can be charged.  This means you'll need to leave your lights in the direct sun for as long as possible before you use them, or you might find the light quality they give off to be disappointing.

Another option that your guests might not have seen before is the atmospheric glow lantern.  This kind of outdoor party light contains a number of extremely bright LEDs, which emit an atmospheric light that adds color and ambiance to any gathering.  They can be set on tables, along walkways and driveways, and by the poolside.  Since this kind of light also usually comes with a hanging hook, they can also be used as outdoor hanging lights to create soft pools of colors.  These lights are charged using household power, and the base contains an indicator to let you know when the batteries are done charging.  Around three hours of charging allows for ten hours of light.

Another solar option for outdoor party lights is the solar glow stick.  These devices charge in direct or indirect sunlight, and can be placed in any soft surface, making them great for pathway lighting.  If you'd like to use them in an area where there's nowhere to put the stake, just place them in a planter or bowl with some topsoil, raffia, or other material that's soft enough to stake.  The glow from these lights is multicolored, and changes over time.  That means that your party can be bathed in blue light one moment, and green the next.
